UMeet (“Company,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the UMeet mobile application (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy describes our policies on the collection, use, and disclosure of your information when you use the Service, and explains your privacy rights and how the law protects you.

By using UMeet, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Interpretation and Definitions

Account

A unique account created for you to access our Service.

Company

Refers to UMeet, operated by Victor Capriles (Spain). For GDPR purposes, UMeet is the Data Controller.

Country

Refers to Spain (and applies within the European Union).

Personal Data

Any information relating to an identified or identifiable individual, such as your name, email address, age, degree, hobbies, foods, zodiac sign, and other information you choose to share in the app.

Usage Data

Information collected automatically when using the Service, including your device’s IP address, operating system, app activity, and crash logs.

Cookies / Tokens

Small identifiers stored on your device, such as Firebase authentication cookies and Expo push notification tokens. These are used to maintain your session and send app notifications.

Collecting and Using Your Personal Data

Types of Data Collected

Profile Data: name, age, sex, degree, hobbies, foods, zodiac sign.
Account Data: university email, authentication details.
Usage Data: log information, device type, crash/error reports.
Notifications: Expo push tokens to send event and match invites.
To process user reports and blocking actions in order to maintain a safe and respectful environment.

We do not collect payment information or sensitive identifiers.

Use of Your Personal Data

UMeet may use your data for the following purposes:

To provide and maintain the Service.
To personalize recommendations and matches.
To manage events, invitations, and notifications.
To contact you with important updates about the Service.
To improve security and performance.
To comply with legal obligations.

Your information may be shared only:

With other UMeet users (limited to your profile information).
With service providers such as Firebase and Expo (for hosting, storage, and notifications).
If required by law or legal process.
Report information (reporter ID, reported ID, reason) is stored securely and shared only with the app administrator for review. It is never made public.

We do not sell or share personal data with advertisers.

You have the right to:

Access, correct, or delete your personal data.
Request a copy of your data.
Opt out of notifications.
Withdraw your consent at any time.

Account Deletion

You may delete your UMeet account at any time by selecting Delete Account in the app’s profile menu.

When you confirm deletion:

Your authentication record is permanently removed from Firebase Auth.
All associated Firestore documents (profile, matches, events, and recommendations) are deleted.
Push-notification tokens are erased from our system.

After deletion, this data cannot be recovered.

Data Security

We use industry-standard practices (via Firebase, Firestore, and Expo) to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

Additionally, we periodically review and delete inactive or blocked user data to uphold privacy and safety standards.

Children’s Privacy

UMeet is intended for university students (ages 17+). We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted here with a revised “last updated” date.
